SHERRY WHITWORTH

Sherry Whitworth serves as a Senior Advisor at HillStaffer. A public affairs industry expert with more than 30 years of experience, Sherry’s work fundamentally changed how organizations and the stakeholder groups they serve communicate with elected officials and impact the legislative process. These ground-breaking innovations continue to shape and sharpen how trade associations, corporations, non-profits, and their constituents incorporate digital strategies and tactics into the advocacy process via  awareness, personal stories, and real-time, valuable data insights.

As the CEO of Capitol Advantage, Sherry helped build the company from the ground up, leading a savvy team of strategists, marketers, and programmers through the development, testing, implementation, and vast adoption of Capwiz — the world’s first digital advocacy software to help organizations advance their issues.

A curious and shrewd business leader, Sherry has participated in taking three companies to acquisition.  In that capacity she has functioned in almost every facet of business— from sales to strategy, marketing to management, and technology to tracking industry trends.

Her work has received numerous awards, including a Grassroots Innovation Award from the Public Affairs Council, multiple Reed Awards from Campaigns and Elections, and the coveted Award for Excellence in National Public Leadership from the National Human Services Assembly.

Her love for the impact of grassroots keeps her actively engaged in the community.  She sits on boards of the Public Affairs Council, The Advocacy Association, the Washington Area State Relations Group, and acts as Co-Chair of Women in Government Relations’ PACs, Politics, and Grassroots Task Force.  She is a past chair of the American Society of Association Executives’ GRAPAC Council.  Sherry holds a B.S. in Communications with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University. In her downtime, she enjoys nature, live music, creative arts, and gardening, and is working to lower her golf handicap.
