WILLIAM MORLEY
William Morley is a Cofounder and Senior Strategist for HillStaffer. He brings nearly four decades of extensive experience working the halls of Congress to develop winning strategies, craft effective messaging and engage media and grassroots coalitions on behalf of our clients. Morley has a strong reputation for working with all sides on an issue to cut through the noise and deliver results.
In addition to his work with HillStaffer, Morley founded the DC-based government relations firm Altrius Group, which has represented a broad array of multinational corporations, associations and non-profits. His work at Altrius Group has focused primarily on international trade and promotion of US intellectual property rights.
Previously, Morley was Managing Director of MWW Group, leading the Washington, DC office of this lobal Public Relations and Advocacy firm. Earlier, Morley served has as Vice President for Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for nearly eight years. As the Chamber’s chief trade lobbyist, he collaborated closely with pro-trade Democrats and Republicans in Congress to promote international engagement and conducted pro-trade ambassador tours across the U.S., engaging with editorial boards and training local trade advocates.
Following the 2000 elections, the White House appointed Morley to serve on the advisory transition team for trade and the U.S. Trade Representative’s office. He has frequently appeared on major news outlets, including CNN, CBS, MSNBC, CNBC, NPR, Bloomberg, and other broadcast and national print media, representing the business community.
Morley began his career in public service by serving as General Counsel and business liaison for U.S. Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA). An attorney by training, Morley previously worked as a business litigator in California, representing hi-tech and startup companies.
Morley is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. He resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Nancy, and is the proud father of four daughters.
